A photography hub in the heart of Tuscany
Immersed in the greenery of Tuscan hills, the Tuscan House of photography stems from the idea of integrating virtuously the knowledge and culture of contemporary image with the beauty of landscapes and cultural heritage which Italy is renowned for.
The whole project was designed with quality as the set value to apply to each of its components, to deliver a high-standard experience, carefully curated in every aspect.
A space dedicated to photography and contemporary image, immersed in the green of the tuscan hills.
The Tuscan House of Photography’s essential mission is to be a home for synergies and exchanges between photographers, a meeting place for emerging and established artists, as well for researchers and experts of contemporary image. From the location to the events calendar, everything is carefully designed to create an environment that facilitates interaction and sparks creativity.
Our team is on the case to organise a series of activities, all aimed at spreading the knowledge of photography and empowering artists to work on their craft.
Our events calendar include photographic days, with talks, walks and exhibitions; week-long courses lead by globally renowned artists; international residencies; weekend workshops.
THP team is formed by professionals with years of experience working in the arts and culture field. Curators, photographers and project managers work on the organisations of the courses, both on the academic and the hospitality sides, with the goal of offering a high-profile educational programme and an excellent stay.
We are thrilled to announce the official launch of The Tuscan House of Photography during our first Open Days, Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of October.
The Tuscan House of Photography's team is ready to open the doors of Podere San Giorgio from 11am on Saturday morning receiving the guests with a welcome aperitivo.
The team will then officially present the project, with an overview of the current and future initiatives and of the spaces of Podere San Giorgio.
In the early afternoon, we’ve organised a photographic walk to explore the magnificent nature in the Palaia area, surrounding the Podere. Make sure you bring over your equipment if you’d like to join us.
During the weekend there will be talks and keynote speeches from photographers and experts, screening of video projects and exhibitions, along with music and food in the unique venue of The Chapel, a XIV century church, completely renovated to be the beating heart and workspace of The Tuscan House of Photography.
During the second day, it will be our pleasure to present and show the works of our summer residencies, that include photographs, video making, music and mixed media art.
The Open Days will take place over the weekend, but you can join us only for one day or decide to stay the night, by booking a room at Podere San Giorgio. The venue offers a variety of rooms, starting at 20€ per night. To request more info on the accommodation and prices and to book your spot, send an email to Chiara or Claudia.
The activities of the Open Days will finish on Sunday afternoon, but for those interested in staying to work and interact with other photographers, from Monday 14th we will be hosting the first edition of our Creative Coworking, 4 days designed to facilitate synergies between artists and discover the possibilities offered by the spaces of The Tuscan House of Photography, supported by the team.
With our mission of being a place of synergies and exchange in mind, we designed our Creative Coworking days. These days want to encourage the connections and physical interaction of the talents in our community, creating a safe and inspiring environment for photographers and visual artists to work on their art while engaging with fellow artists at their own rhythm. These days want to spark conversations and promote collaboration, in a very organic way: we won’t have a tight schedule of events, and none of the extra activity is compulsory, so each artist can interact with the group at a pace that’s comfortable for them and their work.
